Who let the dog out?

I recommend reading (or re-reading) my December 6th, 2005 post before reading this new posting about Duane Chapman star of the A&E reality show 'Dog The Bounty Hunter'.

Duane 'Dog' Chapman - Sent: N/A Received: 12/27/05. When I went to my mailbox today I saw I had a envelope waiting. Cool, no surprise. Then I see the handwriting on it and know it's not one I sent out. The return address stamp is from Duane "Dog" (The Bounty Hunter) Chapman. So I'm thinking this is very cool. They decided to send me a real autograph instead of the lousy pre-print they sent me earlier this month. I open the envelope to get the exact same lousy pre print photo they sent me earlier. Yes they took another photo, put it in their own envelope, addressed it to me (handwriting looks like Beth's) and paid the postage to send me the same thing. The funny thing is I never contacted them at all since my original request that they answered earlier this month. Odd!

'BIG' success

My friend Mark has gotten me hooked on "Sex & The City". (Yet another show I have never seen until now). So I'm in the beginning stages of trying to build a "Sex & The City" collection. Today I landed my first success for the group.

Chris Noth - Sent: 11/21/05 Received: 12/19/05. I was fooled last week when I went to the mailbox. I saw a New York postmark on one of the envelopes and thought it was Chris Noth. (It wasn't, it was Vanessa Williams). Chris was an original member of "Law & Order" playing "Detective Mike Logan". He has reprised that role currently as a regular on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent". I loved his work on "Sex & The City" where he played "Mr. Big". I wrote to him at the set address for "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and he provided the photo below.

Greased success

We have a John Travolta success in today's update. Talk about someone who has been in some incredible projects. "Grease", "Pulp Fiction", "Staying Alive", "Urban Cowboy", "Saturday Night Fever", "Carrie" and even "Welcome Back Kotter" to name just a few. I bet there are not many people that can't find something within John Travolta's work they didn't love.

John Travolta - Sent: 11/15/05 Received: 12/17/05. I have never seen anyone else's TTM (through the mail) successes as debated as John Travolta's. Some people say he does not sign through the mail ever, some say only certain addresses (or movie sets) are the only way to get an authentic autograph, some say it doesn't matter where you send to because a secretary will sign for him regardless. Those thoughts (and every other possible scenario you can imagine) have been applied to John Travolta's TTM successes. I had Beth look at my scans to compare them to her In-person autograph. She and I agree they are very similar to hers and probably a match. But on the flip side of the coin the signature I received also looks a lot like other TTM successes (some of which the users claim are secretarial). I sent the "Grease" photo which was returned with his own photo, both signed and personalized by John Travolta (or ???).

Save the best for last

Hard to believe I only have 5 more requests to send out yet this year. I hope to have those done by the end of the weekend so I can settle in for the holidays.

Vanessa Williams - Sent: 6/28/05 Received: 12/15/05. Former Ms. America turned pop star turned actress Vanessa Williams honored my autograph request in today's mail. "Save The Best For Last" is my favorite song of hers. I've also enjoyed her work as an actress in the projects I've seen.

Tony the tiger

I'm hoping for a very good week this week at the mailbox. It's off to a good start today.

Tony Danza - Sent: 11/9/05 Received: 12/12/05. Another one down on my "Who's The Boss" cast photo. I probably will temporarily stop working on this photo until I see successes coming in on the two remaining, Katherine Helmond and Alyssa Milano (both of which are a challenge to get). This is my second success from Tony Danza who went to college in the area I live in. He signed the photo and index card that I sent him.

The 'sun' will come out tomorrow

It's been a while since my last "Lost" success.

Yunjin Kim - Sent: 9/10/05 received: 12/10/05. I wasn't aware of Yunjin's work until the TV show "Lost" (she plays "Sun Kwon" on the show) but she's a great actress. I've also enjoyed her characters "back story" on the show. Besides sending me a current "season two" photo she also included a typed letter.

Not this man's best friend

A lot of times the bigger 'celebrities' will answer their autograph requests with "pre printed" autographed photos. (Where they sign the original photo, make copies of it and send you a copy of the real one, so your not really getting an authentic autograph). When your talking about people like Halle Berry, Tom Cruise you can understand the enourmous amount of mail they must receive, but when you see a 'B' or 'C' list 'celebrity' send one out you have to wonder.

Duane 'Dog' Chapman - Sent: 10/25/05 Received: 12/6/05. I'm a fan of a lot of the A&E reality shows such as "Family Plots", "Growing Up Gotti" and "Airline". Once in a while I do watch "Dog The Bounty Hunter". It's a ok show (but I like the other ones better). "Dog" mentions on his web site that if you want a autographed photo just to make sure to send a SASE. So I do and I get a Pre-print. Which leaves me wondering one thing ... "Huh"?

Monday's mail

David Clennon - Sent: 6/28/05 Received: 12/5/05. David Clennon has been involved with many movies and TV shows including the TV series "Thirtysomething" where he played "Miles Drentell" and "The Agency" playing "Joshua Nankin". One of my favorite guest appearances of his was on my favorite "WKRP" episode titled "The Consultant". (Quick recap: a consultant was hired to come in and see what changes were needed for the station, so everyone changes their personalities so his report wouldn't be accurate and everyone would keep their jobs). I sent him a photo from my "Sweet Dreams" press kit that showed him as "Randy Hughes" (Patsy Cline's manager) which he returned signed and personalized.

Believe it or not....

It had been almost two weeks in between successes but I'm back in the game again.

William Katt - Sent: 11/15/05 Received: 12/2/05. There hasn't been many reported successes on William Katt (outside of paying for him in the convention circuit) until a few months ago. Finding the right address (where the mail reaches them) is always the key. And someone did find a working address for William Katt, so I ordered a "Greatest American Hero" photo and sent it off to him. Today the photo and my index card came back signed. (Compare it to an "In-Person" autograph obtained by my friend Lee by clicking here). Besides "Greatest American Hero" (which had a killer theme song) I also enjoyed William in "Carrie".
