Where are my autographs? (nov. vs oct.)

What's new? I go to the mailbox every morning. I look for new autograph(s). Nothing there. *Sigh*. I did get my photo back from when I met Dolly Parton again (last month) so I updated my profile picture from the old picture of me with Dolly to the new one taken October 29, 2005. Check it out. You're fired!

After a quiet week two successes arrive today. It used to be Monday was my best day to receive successes, now it seems it's Saturday. I guess Saturday is the new Monday.

Donald Trump - Sent: 11/9/05 Received: 11/19/05. My last success (exactly a week ago) was Martha Stewart, star of the second "Apprentice". Today I get the original "Apprentice" star Donald Trump. I can't pin point any specific reason as to why I wrote to Donald. I've watched a few episodes and it was alright. I'm not a huge fan, but it's a fun autograph to have in the collection. I've seen other people send "The Donald" one dollar bills to sign which is kind of creative. I chose a photo for my collection (which he provided).

Andrew W. Walker - Sent: 11/3/05 Received: 11/19/05. If you watched "Sabrina The Teenage Witch" or "Student Bodies" you probably are aware of Andrew W. Walker's work. More recently he guest starred as "Frank" on the Halloween episode of "Reba". The address I tried him at was previously untested but it proved to work (and quickly too). He supplied the photo which is his current headshot.

Living with Martha Stewart's autograph

Just in time for the holidays Martha arrives today for the perfect addition to my collection.

Martha Stewart - Sent: 10/25/05 Received: 11/12/05. With as much as she has on her "plate" right now it seems odd that Martha Stewart would have the time to respond to autograph requests. But not replying would be almost "Anti-Martha" and she is a "kinder gentler Martha" now. If a secretary did sign it, I wouldn't be surprised. But I did find some scans online that said they were "In-Person" and the handwriting matches.

Hal yeah!

It must be comedians week this week on my blog.

Hal Sparks - In Person: 11/10/05. Hal Sparks is on the road performing a comedy show right now. Originally I purchased this picture with the intention of sending it off this week to try him via venue. But then late Monday night I found out one of his tour stops was going to be about 30 minutes from where I live. So milling it over for a while whether to go or not (most of my friends were unavailable to go with me), I decided I probably would regret not going and so I went. His show was very funny and he was kind enough to sign my photo for me after the show. I'm glad I had the photo as he had no merchandise with him. You've probably seen Hal from his appearances on "Vh1's I Love The .. (70's/80's/90's)", "Queer As Folk", "Spider-man 2" or remember him as the former host of "Talk Soup".

Who's that standing in front of Hal's Bar & Grill? Why, it's Hal Sparks!

Wake Up, San Francisco

"Full House" reminds me a lot of "Dukes Of Hazzard". When I was a kid, it was the best. Watching it now it's ... well not what I remembered it to be.

Bob Saget - Sent: 10/25/05 Received: 11/10/05. Best known from "America's Funniest Home Videos" and "Full House", today I received Bob Saget's autograph. It wasn't until just a few years ago that I read about how different he is (his comedy show and in-person) from both of those shows. Which I think probably is a good thing. "Danny Tanner" had some "issues" anyway. Quick response on this request too.

Ring around the Rosie

Tonight I need to write a few more requests to send out. Each time I get a new success though it motivates me to send out more, and today there was new motivation.

Rosie O'Donnell - Sent: 10/28/05 Received: 11/8/05. Rosie is currently doing "Fiddler On The Roof" on Broadway. She seems to have been replying to a lot of people so I sent a letter to "Fiddler". Today I got back a signed photo (it's a real signature, not a pre-print or autopen). I wish it had been personalized though. But with all the mail she's receiving she easily could have sent pre-prints back so it's still cool. I remember when I first started collecting people were complaining about how hard it was to get her. It goes to show how peoples signing habits change.

Bossy Bowers

My second through the mail (TTM) success for the month came in today's mail.

Danny Pintauro - Sent: 9/15/05 Received: 11/7/05. The second addition to my "Who's The Boss" cast photo came today from Danny Pintauro who played "Jonathan Bower" on the show. He signed my cast photo (already signed by Judith Light) and index card. On the flip side of the index card he answered a few question that were in my letter to him. I'll be sending the photo to Tony Danza this week.

Delicious Surprise

I went to another country music concert tonight & snagged some "In Person" autographs.

Jo Dee Messina -In Person: 11/3/05. I've seen (and met) Jo Dee many times throughout the years. She always puts on a very high energy show and gives it all she has on stage. I had her sign the cd insert to her "Delicious Surprise" cd. (Since the front cover is very dark she signed the back cover of the insert).

Sugarland - In Person: 11/3/05. Sugarland is probably the hottest new country music act out right now. They all were very friendly and seemed to be having a blast both on and off stage. Their hits include "Baby Girl", "Something More" and "(Just Might) Make Me Believe". Big things are definately headed this trio's way!

X'hal! My 'titans' photo is completed!

August of last year I came up with an idea to complete a "Teen Titans" cast photo, signed by all 5 voice actors who work on the cartoon. I also thought it would be fun to do this with another collector so I contacted Lee, who also thought it would be fun. We both sent out our own photos to each cast member at the same time. Yesterday he got Hynden Walch which completed his photo, and today mine arrived.

Hynden Walch - Sent: 9/23/05 Received: 11/1/05. Hynden voices "Starfire" on the "Teen Titans" cartoon. She was always one of my favorite characters in the comic book and on the cartoon as well. Besides signing and completing my photo Hynden sent me a very nice "Starfire" printout which she signed (and answered one of my questions in my letter to her).

This was a fun project to work on the last 13 months or so. Not only was this cast great about signing, every person sent me something extra (or bonused) in addition to signing my photo. Here's a recap of the cast photo:

Greg Cipes (Beast Boy): Sent: 8/31/04 Received: 2/19/05. Greg was the first to sign this photo for me, plus the DVD advertisement I sent. He returned it with a signed "Grrr!" (Peta) magazine and a postcard photo of himself.

Scott Menville (Robin): Sent: 2/22/05 Received: 2/28/05. The fastest reply of the group. I also received a one page handwritten letter from him addressing just about everything I wrote in my letter to him. A true class act.

Khary Payton (Cyborg): Sent: 3/25/05 Received: 8/1/05. The most amazing gift came back with my photo. He sent me a cast shot already signed by all 5 of the main members. See my August 1st posting on my blog for more details.

Tara Strong (Raven): Sent: 8/3/05 Received: 9/22/05. After getting all the boys in the photo I started on the ladies. Tara was my first and she also sent a signed photo of herself. See my September 22nd posting for more details.

Hynden Walch (Starfire): Sent: 9/23/05 Received: 11/1/05. The photo is complete. See details above.

As I mentioned my friend Lee sent his own cast photo which he completed yesterday. To see his completed photo, click here. It feels almost a little weird to have this photo back home for good. This was a fun experience and something I plan on continuing in the future.

FLASHBACK - Ewan McGregor

With today's release of "Star Wars III: Revenge Of The Sith" on DVD, I thought it would be fun to do a "Star Wars" flashback on the blog.

Ewan McGregor - Sent: 8/2/04 Received: 9/10/04. I remember ordering this picture and before I had a chance to send it out someone had posted on a web site that Ewan McGregor wasn't going to autograph any Star Wars related items anymore. (Which was not true). But before I knew that it wasn't true, I sent it to London anyway and in a little over a month received it back signed and personalized. I love seeing an actor like Ewan, who has a huge fan base, being so receptive to his mail. And the best part? The signature matches "In-Person" scans that I've seen.
